You never thought you'd find yourself in a situation where your parent hates you and believes you are doing everything to take over their lives. They believe this so strongly that they are telling your entire family, all of their friends and anyone who will listen. The truth of the matter is that your parent has been diagnosed with dementia some time ago and the reality of the situation has just come to light. Because of the disease your parent lacks the capacity to understand not only the diagnosis but the degree of their memory loss and how it threatens their daily life. Bills were previously unpaid, medications not taken, malnutrition and dehydration from lack of a proper diet or eating at all, a filthy home, the list goes on.
