GOLDEN, CO., May 12, 2009 - Aging and health care expert, Pamela D. Wilson of The Care Navigator announces Parenting Your Parents, a talk radio program on 630 KHOW Denver. The program focuses on the conversation of caring and gives permission for adult children to talk about aging and caregiving with their parents. This is a subject often not discussed until families are in crises and have no idea how to navigate not only health care but issues of daily living for their parents. The program airs weekly on Sunday from 10-11am MST.
The Parenting Your Parents website features weekly checklists, free downloads, the ability to email questions, access blog and Twitter postings, review sponsor information, a library complete with archived programs and the ability for listeners to give their opinions on a weekly feature called Too Hot To Handle, discussing timely and controversial issues about health care and aging. The Parenting Your Parents concept allows adult children to have a resource for questions during the weekly radio broadcast and also a venue and a source of information during the week online at http://www.parentingyourparentsradio.com. This program also serves as an invitation for children to invite their parents to listen, easing the way to opening a conversation about caregiving.
During the past ten years, Pamela D. Wilson, The Care Navigator, has helped adult children and older adults navigate issues of caregiving, health care and aging to arrive at positive solutions. This work supports a significant shift in the parent-child relationship that is emotionally upsetting for the child and the parent because of feelings of loss experienced when parents begin to fail physically and mentally. The reality is that adult children today find themselves caring not only for their children but also their parents. The issue of caregiving will have a long lasting impact on society.
Initial sponsors for Parenting Your Parents are The Law Offices of John J. Campbell, P.C., and Colorado Community Hospice.
Pamela D. Wilson, CSA, MS, BS/BA provides education, service coordination, advocacy and long term care planning for individuals facing the challenges of caregiving through her company The Care Navigator. She may be reached at (303) 205-7877 or by email at

GOLDEN, CO., April 21, 2009 - Aging and health care expert, Pamela D. Wilson of The Care Navigator announces a new website to educate children with aging parents, family caregivers and older adults experiencing the challenges of caregiving.
The Care Navigator website, http://www.thecarenavigator.com, features free information, memberships, newsletters a blog and timely information on aging and health care topics. Information is also available for corporations with employees struggling to balance work and family caregiving roles. Visitors can request a personal consultation.
The website features a free introductory newsletter trial through a sign up box to allow visitors to the site to review information and articles that are available by subscription on a regular monthly basis. Examples of article titles include The Family Dynamics of Caregiving, Aging Baby Boomers and the Next Financial Crises, and Remaining Mentally and Physically Fit as We Age.
Many individuals find the role of caregiver arises unexpectedly and results in crises, lifestyle changes and financial hardship due to a lack of planning and education. Middle age adults today find themselves caring not only for their children but also their parents; a large percentage of these adults already have their own health issues. With the first baby boomer turning 65 in 2011, the issue of caregiving will have a long lasting impact on society, and without education and planning many individuals will be unprepared personally and financially to care for themselves and for other family members.
The website also focuses on the importance of maintaining family relationships throughout life and has a special feature allowing visitors to send a free by mail greeting card to family and friends. These relationships are extremely important especially in times of crises and it is common for individuals needing assistance later in life to find themselves alone and without help. Another feature allows visitors to plan for unexpected events by learning about an affordable legal plan that assists in preparing a will and health care directives in addition to the ability to access an attorney for many other day to day needs.
The website features a wide range of information and advice for individuals at all stages of caregiving.
